Across the Sahara – Dilip Bam

MTM “Rare Breed” Speaker – Dilip Bam. Most people call him eccentric. But we think he is most normal than any of us. We define these terms to people with our limited knowledge and perspectives of self and experiences confined in the walls of our brains. We fail to portray our true selves in the midst of people. There is always a mask. Dilip Bam beats that shit – may i say?”Buda Hoga Tera Baap” he says. English is a funny language he says and therefore does not follow the norms. Meet this man who claims – he has only half a brain left with a gaping hole in his head. He probably needed that to ride across the Sahara on his Kinetic Honda. He speaks Hokkien Chinese, Indonesian, Malaysian. Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Marathi, Hindi & English. Also reads and writes Urdu. He has worked with almost all the media houses writing motorcycle reviews. He also teaches at many Business Management institutions in India...

Yezdi Castrol Continental Raid

YEZDI CASTROL CONTINENTAL RAID It’s not very often that travelers manage to circumnavigate the world on a single cylinder, two stroke, air cooled motorcycle.  But my friend Bassu and I did just that on a Yezdi Roadking, and within a span of 47 days!  And this was way back in 1994! Of course, the planning and paperwork took almost 4 years, which finally paid off. This project that I christened The Yezdi Castrol Continental Raid went on to become the first ever attempt by Indians to set a new World Record in traversing all the 6 Continents in the...

How to survive winter on the Road of Bones

How to survive winter on the Road of Bones When I try to imagine the brutal cold stretch between Magadan and the Lena River, all I can come up with is a mental picture of a bad-ass fire and two inseparable companions sitting in its warmth: Dan and his sense of humour. Dan Popescu is the first man to have ridden through Siberia’s ominous ‘Road of Bones’ in winter. He is also the funniest man to have done it in any weather. Dan Popescu is the first man to have ridden through Siberia’s ominous ‘Road of Bones’ in winter....
